Waaahh!! another great experience for 2010! I met people I never expect to meet at the vacinity of st. paul:))
Last January 9, St. Paul held their annual alumni homecoming. Daphne and I was one of the usherettes. We are placed at the registrar table. Our work is to check their names on the guest lists, give their table numbers, give the complementary hand and back massage coupon, ask for a credit card for the raffle and give name tags. Well, I actually enjoy my work even though nabubulol na ko kaka english and kakaulit ng mga sinasabi ko. But there are some people that complains about the registration. medyo magulo kasi and not so organized. I think the organizers are not organized as well. we simply follow instructions. Well, nakakatense pag nag cocomplain sila, but honestly, that was fine with me 'coz at least I will learn how to handle complaints. No one complains naman about my work eh :))
Alright, let me go to the most interesting part. One old lady went in front of our table. At first, Daphne took the registration for her.
Old Lady: Cristina.
[she mentioned her name so that daphne could check it on the guest list.]
Daphne: Ma'am your maiden name please.
[with a smile of course]
Old Lady: Pantoja
[when I heard that, I remember the book "catch a falling star" that I've read that was written by ms Cristina Pantoja Hidalgo. So I immediately find her name on my guest list. On my surprise, I saw her name there. batch '60, Pantoja-Hidalgo, Cristina.]
Me: Ms. Cristina Pantoja-Hidalgo?
[sarcastic way]
Old Lady: Yes.
**then I took her registration. I gave her table number, her hand and back massage coupon, her name tag [her nick name was "JING" :))] and asked for her calling card [she's now working at the University of the Philippines].
I was so surprised. I was about to tell her that I've read her book but.. I don't know. I'm speechless. gosh.
Here's a picture of her and her book that I've read.

She's thiner when I saw her. She doesn't look nice and friendly like on the picture above. She looks like masungit. But I think it's because of the messed-up registration.
When you read a book kasi, somehow, you're building a relationship with the author of the book and the characters on it. And the characters on that book was she herself. Kaya pala nakakarelate ako sa mga nakasulat dun.. like they also held their retreat at antipolo, there are also sisters on her school.. grabehh. di ko maexpress eh. nakakatuwa naman. parang panaginip lang.
I made a research about her. She's a high school valedictorian pala at St. Paul during her batch. And magkasunod ung birthday namin. Mine was on the 20th of August, Hers was on the 21st. She had a lot of writings beside catch a falling star.
Anyway, I also saw few artists there like:
Ms. Arlene Muhlach
she looks so bubbly and jolly like what we saw on tv. She isn't so fat naman pala.
Ms. Yayo Aguila
Nakasabay namin sya sa elevator:)) but she looks like mataray. idk. muka lang naman. :)
Vice Mayor Herbert Bautista
The Captain Barbell! :)) He's small like on TV..
And we also met the chairman of gawad kalinga.
I went home like around 7 in the evening. Tiring but memorable :)) I had fun and I enjoy the experience:))
